Don’t worry, The mindful feline is not turning into a poetry blog, even if we did just run T. S. Eliot’s famous poem, The Naming of Cats, in yesterday’s post.
Today, I’d like to tell you about a contest sponsored by the pets add Life campaign as well as the American Pet products Association. Poems are now being accepted for the 4th annual pets add Life Children’s poetry Contest. The contest is available to trainees in grades 3 with 8.
It’s simple to enter. Kids are asked to compose a poem about pets – what they like about them, the joys they bring – and then publish it online, or mail their final poem as well as submission type to: pets add Life, 661 Sierra increased Dr., Reno, NV 89511. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2012 at 5:00pm EST.
In addition, instructors within the contest grade levels are welcome to integrate this national contest into their lesson plans, as well as submit poems in one entry, in behalf of their classroom.
One trainee from each grade level (6 total) nationwide will win a $250 gift certificate for pet products, as well as a “by-line” in a nationally circulated publication. In addition, the six winning students’ classrooms will each win a $1,000 scholarship to spend on pet associated education.
